It’s Asia’s first Mascot Parade, fully organised by youth and presented by SHINE Youth Festival!

SHINE Youth Mascot Parade will be the key highlight for SHINE Youth Festival Launch Event on 27 June 2009 @ Ngee Ann City Civic Plaza.
Expect a full day of Fantastic Activities starting from 1pm, and ending at 10pm.
- Activities include: OTAKU UNLIMITED Cosplay Challenge / BabeStar Boothbabes Contest / KuroBara Lolita GL Fashion Parade / KuroBara Dollfie Show / SHINE Mascot Parade Costume Party / RoboGadiators Tournament / and a J-Rock Band Concert featuring Channel U's SuperBand [Ethe'Real] !!!

Launch Event features a Youth Mascot Parade March in the heart of Singapore’s prime shopping district – Orchard Road.
4 Key Segments of Parade March : Gaming / Arts and Culture / Environment / Community.
Estimated Outreach : More than 3000 participants, 20,000 visitors and public in Orchard during the Mascot Parade.

The Youth Mascot Parade aims to nurture positive youth activism and awareness for youth interests by providing a parade platform for participants.

This project is a first in Asia, to showcase in a street parade format, with mascots and cos-players from well known international gaming franchises; cultural and organizational brands, and artistic icons.
The Youth Mascot Parade is a good strategic fit with the development of youth and social bonding in Singapore. As a neutral parade, youth from all segments and sectors can showcase their interest in a public platform at the heart of Singapore’s iconic shopping district.

This will encourage youth to step beyond their comfort zone to participate in a record breaking mega event.

Wan Wu Sports Equipment and Services aims to provide a One-Stop Station to all kinds of Martial Arts Equipments, Training Aids and Professional Coaching Services.

Wushu, also known as modern wushu or contemporary wushu, is both an exhibition and a full-contact sport derived from traditional Chinese martial arts.

< NEW > CREATE a Theme Song for SYMP! (CLOSED)

From now till 10th June 2009, we invite all aspiring Singers and Music creators to submit in a Theme Song for SHINE Youth Mascot Parade! In collaboration with Express in Music (a project supported by SPRING Singapore) SHINE youth Mascot Parade provides a great opportunity for you to showcase your musical talents!

Simply create an original song with an energetic tempo that brings out the vibrancy and passion of Asia's first ever Mascot Parade!

Length of the song is restricted to approximately 1 minute.
English lyrics (not compulsory for lyrics if focus of song is on instrumental)
Submission Due Date: 1st June 2009, 11.59am.

Provide a catchy music chorus portion of 10 seconds and we will extract it for use in SYMP TV Ads on Channel U. (More than 100 TV Ads is scheduled with your song as the central music!)

We are preparing our Post Event Report and would like to remind all SYMP Official Photographers to send us your photos in DVD for compilation and feature in the report. SYMP Post Event Report is expected to be available for your reference by Mid August. Complimentary Print copies are available upon request for SYMP Partners and supporting organisations.

The SYMP Managing Committee will also be finalising the full namelist for Paraders, Cosplayers, Volunteers and Helpers who have contributed towards the success of SHINE Youth Mascot Parade and will post it online under Readme by mid July 09. All contributors will receive our Certificate for Participation so if you don't see your name, do email us and we reference from our records and add you in =)

Your support allow us to create the 1st ever Mascot Parade in the heart of Orchard with close to 18,000 attendees in the full day extravaganza! SHINE YOUTH MASCOT PARADE WILL TAKE PLACE AS SCHEDULED. SEE EXTRACT FROM NYC SHINE YOUTH FESTIVAL BELOW:

"As of today, we should not be doing temperature screening onsite, based on Ministry of Health's advisory at Alert Yellow. ...General public who are not feeling well will be advised to see their family doctor if they are experiencing high fever, cough, muscle pains, sore throat, fatigue or
tiredness, headache, nausea, vomitting or diarrhoea. They are also advised to rest at home if they are not feeling well, to rest and recover."

"...for major events involving big crowds, NYC will draft
contingency plans to conduct temperature screening, in case we should
migrate to mitigation phase at a short notice and a decision is taken to
implement temperature checks. This will happen when the Ministry of Health moves the status to Alert Orange."

Participants who have visited affected areas prior to this Saturday's SHINE Youth Mascot Parade are advised to seek medical assistance if you are feeling feverish or unwell.
SYMP will be gathering the contact details of all participants during Registration as part of our preventive measures against H1N1.
Your safety comes 1st! We will continue to provide the latest updates and advice on our website regarding the impact or resolutions for H1N1 on our participants. In the meantime, SYMP will continues with our event as scheduled if there are no negative updates on H1N1 Alert Status in the next 3 days. Special Thanks to representatives from MOVIEMANIA and 501st Legion Singapore Garrison for supporting the teaser showcase during SHINE Youth Festival Press Conference. The presscon was covered by the major newspapers including Straits Times, Zao Bao and saw many taking the chance for group photos with our Paraders! For the main event featuring 100x more costumed talents and youth, come visit us next Saturday on the 27th June @ Orchard Ngee Ann City Civic Plaza!

SHINE Youth Festival, the largest Youth Festival in Singapore is the Official Presenter for The Mascot Parade 2009. Renamed as 'SHINE Youth Mascot Parade' (SYMP), participants can expect a mega showcase on the 27 June as youth express their passion and creativity in Asia's first Mascot Parade!

SHINE 2008 reached out to over 270,000 Youth participating across 100 events. From 27 June to 01 August 2009, youth will showcase their diverse talents and skills to shape a better future for the community and celebrate young role models. See: www.shine.youth.sg

Everyone can play a part! Individuals and Organisations welcome!

Contact us today if you belong to any of the following group:
- Cosplayers and Boothbabes: For Manga and Games Characters. Beginners welcome!
- Uniform Groups: As part of the School CCA or Clubs like National Cadet Corps, St John Ambulance Brigade, Red Cross Youth, Singapore Scout Association, Girl Guides, the Boys Brigade etc.
- Sports & Clubs: Lion Dance, Cheer Leaders, Karate club, Basketball club, Yoga club etc
- Performing Arts: School Bands, Jugglers, Drama club, Modern Dance, Chinese Dance etc.
- Organisations: Company Recreation / Welfare clubs, NGOs and Youth Outreach Programmes etc.

Organisation opting for mass registration can elect one representative to contact our staff for the pdf forms, and complete on behalf of participants.

Submit completed forms directly to *SCAPE Youth Centre (Grey Building) Level 1 Reception Counter. Attention to 'SHINE Youth Mascot Parade'
